India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has urged Poland to adopt a 'zero-tolerance' stance on terrorism in the region, following Poland's joint statement with Pakistan concerning Kashmir. The discussion was highlighted during a meeting with Poland's Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski on Monday.
Jaishankar also expressed concern over Western nations' criticisms of India regarding its relations with Russia amid the Ukraine conflict, addressing the 'unfairness' and 'selective targeting' India faced. Sikorski, during his visit to India, agreed with Jaishankar's concerns about the selective approach in tariffs related to India's stance on Ukraine.
The dialogue also aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, discussing commerce, defense, clean technologies, and digital innovation. Jaishankar acknowledged Poland as a key trading partner, noting a $7 billion trade milestone. Historical ties were recalled with mention of Maharaja Digvijaysinhji's aid to Polish children during WWII.
