Punjab CM Announces Aid Amidst Tensions After Drone Attack

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced Rs 5 lakh compensation to the family of Sukhwinder Kaur, who died following a Pakistani drone attack. The incident comes amid cross-border tensions after India's Operation Sindoor. PM Modi praised Indian soldiers for their bravery during a visit to the Adampur airbase.

In a gesture of support amidst escalating cross-border tensions, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared an ex gratia payment of Rs 5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the family of Sukhwinder Kaur. Kaur, a resident of Khai Ke village in Ferozepur, succumbed to injuries from a Pakistani drone attack.

Strongly expressing his condolences, the Chief Minister assured the government's commitment to assisting the grieving family during this challenging period. Additionally, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora contributed Rs 2 lakh to aid the family.

The fatal attack, linked to retaliatory exchanges between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor, left Kaur and her husband, Lakhwinder Singh, critically injured. Despite extensive medical care at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Kaur passed away. The Indian response saw considerable military maneuvers targeting Pakistani infrastructure.

Amidst ongoing military responses, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Adampur Air Base, where he lauded the valor of air warriors and soldiers involved in Operation Sindoor. His visit, a morale booster for the troops, was punctuated by patriotic chants, with Modi acknowledging the indomitable spirit and sacrifices of the armed forces in a heartfelt post on X.
