In a fervent display of devotion, countless worshippers congregated at the Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati on Tuesday, marking the third day of the Ambubachi Mela, a four-day religious gathering celebrating the annual menstruation cycle of Goddess Kamakhya. This event is deeply rooted in cultural traditions and symbolizes the goddess as a potent emblem of feminine energy.

The Ambubachi Mela, a revered festival in Assam, occurs during the monsoon month of Ahaar, around mid-June. Following the Ambubachi Prabritti rituals, the temple doors closed on June 22, reopening on June 26. Kamakhya is esteemed as a pivotal center for Tantric practices and stands as one of India's most ancient Shakti Peethas.

Kickstarting the Ambubachi Mela on Sunday, the historic Kamakhya Temple on the Nilachal Hills transformed into a hub of spiritual activity. The Kamakhya temple management and Kamrup (Metro) district administration have orchestrated comprehensive arrangements to accommodate devotees arriving from all parts of the country and overseas. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a social media post, extended his wishes to pilgrims, highlighting the event's significance in honoring Kamakhya's divine femininity.
