The accused, a 19-year-old from a nearby village, attacked the woman near Botsa village on July 16. He inflicted multiple stab wounds before fleeing when a passerby arrived. The suspect is under judicial custody after being caught by locals.

Shops closed as protestors marched through Kohima, demanding justice and strict punishment. NAWO presented a memorandum condemning the act and urging swift and visible justice for crimes against women. Authorities urge a thorough investigation and caution against granting bail.
