Landslide at Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Project Leaves 11 Injured

On Saturday, a significant landslide struck the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Project in Chamoli, leaving 11 workers severely injured, according to officials. The incident occurred as 300 workers were on site, with approximately 70 near the falling rocks. Fortunately, swift action allowed everyone to escape unharmed.

Eight workers received immediate first aid, while the 11 severely injured individuals were swiftly transported to Koti Vivekanand Hospital. Among them, two require advanced medical procedures, including an MRI, and are being moved to Srinagar Medical College. The district administration has directed THDC to verify site safety before resuming operations.

In light of this incident, Chamoli District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari confirmed the medical requirements for those injured and reiterated the importance of site security before work recommences. Meanwhile, state officials report that despite heavy rainfall, the Chardham Yatra route remains open and functional, with ongoing efforts to tackle minor disruptions on certain roads.
