In a powerful address at the 'Vote Adhikaar Rally' in Bengaluru, Rahul Gandhi reiterated his allegations of 'vote theft' against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Election Commission of India (ECI). The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha demanded immediate access to voter lists and video recordings from the past decade.
Gandhi pointed to the unexpected outcomes of the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly election, asserting that rigging cost Congress and its allies a victory. He highlighted how new voter registrations coincided with BJP's assembly triumph, suggesting deliberate manipulation. Despite earlier Lok Sabha successes, the loss in Maharashtra left Congress questioning the integrity of the electoral process.
The Election Commission has hit back, challenging Gandhi to substantiate his claims by signing a declaration prepared by the electoral officials of Maharashtra and Karnataka or issuing an apology for his 'absurd' allegations. This bold back-and-forth underscores the growing tension between the Congress and the ruling party regarding electoral fairness.
