Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced that the Yellow Line metro, set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will enhance travel efficiency by connecting important areas in South Bengaluru. In a social media post, Shivakumar emphasized the project's potential to offer quicker, smoother, and more comfortable commutes for thousands of daily travelers, while promoting sustainable urban transport.

As preparations for Modi's visit proceed, the vicinity of Ragigudda Metro Station and Bellary Road have been decorated, with security measures being intensified. According to official reports, the Prime Minister will ceremonially open the Yellow Line running from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, a key segment of the Bangalore Metro Phase-2 that extends over 19 km and encompasses 16 stations, at a substantial investment of approximately Rs 7,160 crore.

The launch of this metro line will expand Bengaluru's operational metro network to over 96 km, significantly serving its large populace. Additionally, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project, costing over Rs 15,610 crore, which includes a planned network of more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations. This new phase aims to meet the city's escalating transport demands across various sectors. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) oversees the metro operations, in partnership with the central and state governments. Furthermore, Modi will inaugurate three Vande Bharat Express trains from Bengaluru, bolstering regional connectivity and offering a premium travel experience.
