Uttar Pradesh Launches Green Hydrogen Revolution

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, inaugurated India’s second green hydrogen plant at Khanimpur in Gorakhpur, marking a significant development in the state's clean energy journey. This project is seen as pivotal for reducing carbon emissions and advancing green energy solutions across the region.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has launched the state's first green hydrogen plant, only the second in India, at Khanimpur village in Gorakhpur. Developed by Torrent Gas and Torrent Power, the facility is a critical milestone in the transition to clean energy, an official statement confirmed.

During the inauguration, Adityanath described green hydrogen as the 'energy of the future,' emphasizing its role in curbing biodiversity loss, cutting carbon emissions, and enhancing public health. Addressing attendees, he implored, “To preserve humanity and civilization, curbing carbon emissions is vital.”

The plant will integrate green hydrogen with CNG and PNG for domestic and industrial applications, progressing clean fuel technology. With ample water resources, Uttar Pradesh is poised to become a hub for green hydrogen production, Adityanath noted, citing successful green initiatives such as LED streetlights that have cut power use and emissions dramatically.
