Mumbai is grappling with heavy rainfall since Monday morning, resulting in significant delays for local trains because of reduced visibility and waterlogging at various locations. Both the Mainline and the Harbourline are experiencing delays of approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
The Central Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer, Dr. Swapnil Dhanraj Nila, highlighted issues caused by water accumulation at certain stations, particularly on the Harbourline. Reports indicate that stations like Kurla, Chembur, and Tilaknagar are facing challenges due to waterlogging, prompting a clampdown on certain routes and causing train movement delays.
The meteorological department has issued a Red and Orange alert across several districts in Maharashtra, including Mumbai. In response to the adverse weather conditions, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has declared a school holiday and urged citizens to stay indoors unless necessary. Emergency contacts and adequate measures have been put in place to tackle any potential crisis.
