Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has conveyed deep appreciation to President Droupadi Murmu for the historic release of the Indian Constitution translated into nine languages featured in the Eighth Schedule, including Nepali. This move recognizes the official languages of Sikkim: English, Nepali, Sikkimese (Bhutia), and Lepcha.
In a social media post, CM Tamang expressed, "On behalf of Sikkim's people and government, I extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Hon'ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji, for graciously releasing the Constitution in nine Eighth Schedule languages, including Nepali." The release, aligned with the 76th Constitution Day celebrations, emphasizes "Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman," and marks a milestone in fostering inclusivity and linguistic diversity, further enhancing access to India's core democratic values.
Tamang underscored the pride Sikkim feels being mentioned in such a prestigious forum. He also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government for their visionary role in this initiative. Earlier, at the Constitution Day event in Samvidhan Sadan, President Murmu released translations in nine languages, highlighting the Constitution's significance in India's democratic path and urging citizens to uphold its principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
