Caspian Pipeline Consortium Halts Operations After Attack
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium has suspended operations at its Black Sea terminal following an attack by Ukrainian naval drones. No injuries occurred, and no oil spill was reported. CPC plans to launch a third mooring point under repair, with resumption expected once threats are mitigated.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), responsible for over 1% of global oil transportation, has temporarily halted operations at its Black Sea terminal. The decision follows significant damage to a mooring point caused by an attack from Ukrainian naval drones, as confirmed by a CPC statement released on Saturday.
Despite the severity of the damage, no injuries were reported among CPC staff or contractors. The consortium assured that the emergency protection systems effectively shut down the pipelines, preventing any oil spill into the Black Sea.
CPC, whose shareholders include U.S. giants Chevron and Exxon Mobil, is now focused on repairs. Shipments will resume once threats are neutralized, and the third mooring point, currently under repair, will be operational soon.
