Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has initiated various measures to ensure a hassle-free paddy procurement process for farmers. On Monday, he instructed officials to provide facilities that prevent hardships and guarantee payments are made directly to farmers' bank accounts without delay.
The Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for common and Grade-A paddy have been set at Rs 2,369 and Rs 2,389 per quintal respectively, reflecting an increase from the previous year. Meeting reviews revealed that 4,227 procurement centres are currently operational, with plans to increase them to 5,000 for better accessibility by farmers.
To support the mid-day meal and anganwadi centres, Adityanath emphasized ensuring a continuous supply of fortified rice, urging for an increase in fortified rice kernel vendors. The Chief Minister also called for streamlined paddy lifting and mill mapping processes to maintain a steady procurement flow, additionally checking the availability of fertilisers and seeds across districts.
