In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Assam Rifles, alongside local Police and the CRPF, halted a major narcotic transport operation in Jiribam, Manipur. This operation resulted in the seizure of 50,000 Yaba tablets valued at Rs 12.5 crores and the arrest of two suspects, as per an official release on Saturday.
Utilizing precise intelligence inputs, the Assam Rifles executed a timely ambush on December 6, intercepting the large consignment of 50,000 WY/R tablets from a vehicle. The operation, which successfully apprehended two individuals, underscores Assam Rifles' persistent endeavor to curb narcotic activities and safeguard the North East from drug-related threats.
In a series of operations conducted from November 23 to 28, 2025, in collaboration with the Manipur Police, the Indian Army and Assam Rifles arrested 11 militants, recovering 14 firearms and numerous explosives. These actions, spanning multiple districts like Imphal West and Kangpokpi, highlight the steadfast commitment of security forces in ensuring regional safety.
