Chennai International Airport experienced major flight disruptions on Wednesday morning as dense fog severely reduced visibility, prompting the implementation of Low Visibility Procedures (LVP).
According to airport weather data, visibility steadily declined from 4,000 meters at midnight to just 300 meters by 8:00 am. As conditions worsened, airport authorities announced a visibility standby at 4:00 am, leading to the cancellation of multiple flights.
In response to these adverse conditions, several key incoming and outgoing IndiGo flights, including services from and to Kochi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, were cancelled. Passengers have been advised to stay in touch with their airlines for updates as meteorologists predict the fog may persist.
