The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recently concluded its much-anticipated elections, with the State Election Commissioner reporting a voter turnout of 52.94%. The polls, held after an eight-year interval, were marked by allegations from the Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS alliance, though these claims were subsequently denied by the election authorities.
Highlighting the civic engagement, Ward 114 recorded a high turnout at 65.53%, contrasted by Ward 227's 20.88%. Of the 1,03,44,315 registered voters, 54,76,043 cast their votes. Men accounted for 3.7 lakh more votes than women, but percentages showed 52.8% female and 52.2% male turnout.
Exit polls forecast a victory for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in the Municipal Corporation's 227 seats. BJP and Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena maintain the upper hand as the counting of votes commences today at 10:00 am across designated centers in Mumbai.
