Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has announced the commissioning of a substantial 198 megawatt (MW) wind energy project in Tamil Nadu. The facility, strategically placed in Karur for Tata Steel, operates under the Group Captive model, enhancing both companies' commitment to sustainability.

The project is equipped with 55 wind turbines, each generating 3.6 MW, and is projected to deliver an impressive 31 million units of clean electricity every year. This development significantly bolsters Tata Steel's ongoing efforts towards decarbonization.

By offsetting 26,350 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually, the project is a notable step forward in ensuring a greener supply chain. It underscores TPREL's continued contribution to expanding India's renewable energy capacity, marking a pivotal achievement in the country's green energy transition.
