In a bold assertion of women's vital role in economic development, Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu addressed International Women's Day at Amaravati Parade Grounds. He lauded women as crucial drivers of growth, stressing their strength in love, sacrifice, and financial acumen.
Highlighting impressive strides in female entrepreneurship, Naidu revealed that over 1.1 lakh women have established Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across the state, surpassing initial government targets. Initiatives such as Self Help Groups (SHGs) have effectively lifted many from poverty, illustrating women's significant impact on the state's economy.
Naidu called for increased female representation in politics, advocating a 33% reservation in legislatures and urging women to seize emerging opportunities. He praised initiatives like the 'Swayam Brand' to market products from women-led SHGs, promising continued government support and action against harassment.
