U.S. Troops Suffer Heavy Injuries in Escalating Conflict with Iran
The conflict between the U.S. and Iran has resulted in approximately 200 U.S. troops being wounded, with 180 having returned to duty. 13 troops have been killed following Iranian strikes. The U.S. has conducted strikes on over 7,000 targets in Iran, including key oil export sites.
The U.S. military reported Monday an increase in wounded troops during its ongoing conflict with Iran, with numbers reaching around 200 as the confrontation extends into its third week. Reuters previously highlighted that as many as 150 troops had sustained injuries, underlining the risks posed by Iranian retaliatory attacks.
A U.S. Central Command statement confirmed that most injuries were minor, with 180 of the affected troops already returning to active duty. However, alongside the injured, 13 American soldiers have died in the retaliatory strikes from Iran, which have also impacted diplomatic venues, hotels, airports, and energy infrastructure in nearby Gulf nations.
The United States has responded with force, striking over 7,000 targets in Iran, including crucial military sites on Kharg Island, a vital hub for 90% of Iran's oil exports, according to a statement by former President Trump last week.
