Sri Lanka Secures Emergency Coal Amid Energy Crisis

Sri Lanka's cabinet has sanctioned the urgent procurement of 300,000 metric tons of coal from Indian firm Taranjot Resources Pvt Ltd. This move aims to bolster the nation's energy reserves amidst supply challenges exacerbated by geopolitical tensions, notably the U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran, forcing the country to ration fuel.

This decision comes at a critical time for the island nation, which is facing severe energy constraints and has resorted to rationing fuel.
