The country has surpassed the 56 GW mark in installed capacity, establishing itself as the fourth-largest in the world.

This accolade for 2025-26 comes with a historic 6.05 GW capacity addition, outperforming previous years by a substantial margin. Modi credited engineers, the youth, and the collective will of the nation for this achievement, underscoring the integral role of wind energy in India's development narrative.

The growth is attributed to robust policy frameworks, including import duty concessions, transmission cost waivers, and strategic support from key states like Gujarat, Karnataka, and Maharashtra.
