Congress Backs TVK for a Stable and Secular Tamil Nadu Government

In a significant political development, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram stated on Wednesday that the Congress party will formally support a government led by Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). This move follows TVK's impressive 108-seat performance in the recent elections, highlighting a demand for secular change in Tamil Nadu.

Chidambaram emphasized that the citizens of Tamil Nadu have expressed their desire for a government led by TVK. With just 10 seats short of a majority, TVK's outreach to Congress has led to a unanimous decision across party forums to support a stable and secular administration.

Amid ongoing speculation, Congress state in-charge Girish Chodankar confirmed receipt of a letter from TVK, indicating formal discussions. A joint press conference with Congress and TVK leaders is scheduled to further elaborate on the alliance. TVK Chief Vijay is also set to meet Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar as part of the government formation process.
