In a recent turn of events, senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy resigned from his ministerial position, drawing attention and praise for the Shakti scheme, which facilitates free travel for women across Karnataka. Reddy's efforts were lauded by AICC Karnataka co-incharge, Abhishek Dutt, who highlighted the program's success while sharply critiquing the BJP for imitating but underdelivering on similar promises. Speaking at a press meeting, Dutt emphasized the Congress party's commitment to its pledges, contrasting it with BJP's performance.
Reddy's resignation came just two days after he assumed office in the government led by Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. Despite stepping down from the Cabinet, Reddy underscored his unwavering allegiance to the Congress party, citing over five decades of association. His decision was clarified to impact only his ministerial duties, not his party membership.
Amid potential dissatisfaction, Karnataka minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah assured that the Congress high command would engage in discussions with Reddy and fellow leader KH Muniyappa. Both leaders are long-time loyalists, expected to resolve any issues amicably. Decisions on Cabinet induction are to be finalized by the party high command, aligning with every MLA's aspirations to serve as ministers.
