In a decisive move, the Delhi Government, under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, has ramped up its offensive against illegal structures and encroachments throughout the city. Strict enforcement actions, including the demolition of unauthorized constructions and the sealing of properties, are being undertaken as part of a zero-tolerance policy on public safety threats.
The initiative aims to address activities endangering public safety, with the government also contemplating a long-term plan to curb future violations. A third-party insurance proposal for buildings and public-use establishments is on the table, ensuring safety compliance before coverage.
Ongoing operations involve multiple agencies, with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi demolishing 94 illegal properties, while the Delhi Development Authority intensifies actions against unlawful constructions. A digital tracking system is being developed to enhance transparency in fire safety enforcement, alongside measures to professionally sanction architects responsible for violations.
