In response to the recent Shigella outbreak in Keralam, Minister T Siddique reassured the public that the situation is under control. Speaking to the press on Tuesday, Siddique emphasized that affected institutions are under stringent supervision and that efforts to boost public awareness are being undertaken to prevent further spread.
Siddique outlined initiated measures, revealing that 12 institutions linked to cases have been identified, with comprehensive investigations underway, including one facility outside Wayanad. A special focus is placed on chlorinating wells and water bodies, with public announcements and pamphlet distributions enhancing community awareness.
Health officials have confirmed cases in two young students from Wayanad amidst reports of 339 individuals exhibiting symptoms. Additional efforts involve lab testing of 21 samples, with results pending for 19. The outbreak followed a recent child fatality, prompting swift action, including a special team dispatched to Wayanad from Kozhikode Medical College, ensuring continued monitoring and control.
