Pijush Hazarika's Initiative to Revitalize Assam's Irrigation Future

Assam's Minister of Irrigation, Pijush Hazarika, inspects the Maloibari Electrical Lift Irrigation Scheme. He emphasizes enhancing irrigation infrastructure and improving service delivery to support farmers. The scheme benefits 5,000 farmers and supports 1,800 hectares of land.

Shortly after assuming his role as the Minister of Irrigation, Pijush Hazarika took a proactive step on Friday by visiting the Maloibari Electrical Lift Irrigation Scheme located within the Dimoria Legislative Assembly Constituency. The visit entailed a comprehensive inspection of the existing irrigation infrastructure within the area.

During this visit, Minister Hazarika assessed four pump centers and the interconnected canal networks to evaluate their operational status and the overall effectiveness of the irrigation services offered to the farmers. He conducted a thorough review of the infrastructure's condition and engaged in discussions with both departmental officials and local farmers, focusing on enhancing and expanding the irrigation system to improve service delivery.

The Maloibari ELIS is one of the oldest irrigation schemes in the region, providing assured irrigation to nearly 1,800 hectares of agricultural land and benefiting approximately 5,000 farmers. Minister Hazarika expressed his commitment to making the Agriculture and Irrigation Departments more responsive and people-centric.

The Minister stressed the importance of ensuring effective delivery of government services to the grassroots level, particularly within the farming community. To further this goal, Minister Hazarika announced plans to visit additional irrigation projects across the state, aiming to gain firsthand insights into their operation and challenges.

Accompanied by Dimoria MLA Tapan Das and officials from the Irrigation and Agriculture Departments, Minister Hazarika underlined the necessity of identifying on-ground issues for timely interventions to strengthen state irrigation infrastructure. (ANI)
