Chhattisgarh Prepares for Monsoon with Advance Food Supplies

In Chhattisgarh's Narayanpur district, the administration has preemptively stocked food grains at PDS outlets to ensure uninterrupted supply during the monsoon. Preparedness involves storing three months' rations in remote villages, countering accessibility issues due to flooding and rough terrain, thereby helping residents overcome annual monsoon supply challenges.

Outside the gates of accessibility, the Narayanpur administration in Chhattisgarh has embarked on a mission ahead of the monsoon season. Food grains are being stockpiled in advance at Public Distribution System (PDS) outlets and gram panchayats within the remote confines of Abujhmad. This strategic move aims to secure continual access to essential supplies throughout the rainy months.

According to Narayanpur Collector Namrata Jain, the Chhattisgarh government proactively initiated this scheme to store a three-month supply of ration grains across susceptible gram panchayats. Namrata emphasized the pressing need, stating, 'As per the state government's initiative, we are currently storing three months' worth of food grains at all PDS shops across gram panchayats. The purpose of this pre-monsoon storage is to ensure the availability of rations during the rainy season.'

A multi-modal transport approach, including the use of tractors, ensures timely delivery of essential supplies. Local shopkeeper Gajendra Singh Nag reiterated the importance of preparedness saying that with four months' worth of stocks secured, the region is ready to stand against monsoonal challenges that tend to isolate the area. Residents, recognizing the benefit, lauded the initiative as a vital support in navigating the harsh rains.
