Thousands of government doctors in Haryana went on an indefinite strike on Thursday, severely impacting services in state-run hospitals, with long queues forming outside OPDs and patients being treated by interns or retired doctors.
The Haryana Civil Medical Services Association (HCMSA) called for the strike to protest the non-fulfilment of several demands, including the formation of a specialist cadre and a career progression scheme.
Government representatives engaged in talks with the doctors' body, but the strike continues as demands have not been fully met.
