Nearly 1,500 junior resident doctors at government medical colleges in Chhattisgarh boycotted elective services on Wednesday in protest of the rape and murder of a trainee medico in Kolkata.
Junior doctors refrained from out-patient departments (OPDs), operation theatres, and ward services from 8 am to 2 pm, according to Dr. Dharmendra Kumar Singh, president of the Junior Doctors' Association (JUDA) at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar Memorial Hospital, Raipur.
Over 300 junior resident doctors joined the demonstration in the state capital, with similar protests, involving more than 1,000 doctors, occurring at other hospitals.
