The National Medicinal Plants Board has taken a major step towards conserving and promoting rare medicinal plants by signing two pivotal agreements. These Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aim to establish a national medicinal plants garden and promote plant conservation through modern tissue culture techniques.
The first MoU involves a partnership between the NMPB and IshVed-Bioplants Venture, focusing on conserving rare plant species through advanced cultivation methods. Meanwhile, the second MoU, a collaboration between NMPB, AIIA, and AIIMS-Delhi, seeks to create a medicinal plants garden to educate the public and benefit hospital visitors.
This initiative, supported by Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, underscores India's commitment to integrating traditional and modern science. It's a significant milestone in the Ministry of Ayush's efforts to enhance research, conservation, and public engagement in the medicinal plant sector.
