Pedaling for a Cause: Cyclothon Promotes Breast Cancer Awareness

In South Delhi, nearly 250 cycling enthusiasts gathered over the weekend to participate in 'Gulabi Udaan - a Cyclothon in Pink', an event aimed at raising awareness about breast cancer and the critical need for early detection. The event was organized by Rotary International in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre (RGCIRC), Niti Bagh.
Dr. Gauri Kapoor, Medical Director at RGCIRC, emphasized the vital nature of awareness initiatives like Gulabi Udaan. "Breast cancer awareness is crucial in today's world," she stated, adding that such events are key to spreading the message of early detection. Dr. Ravinder Gugnani, Rotary District Governor, also highlighted the role of physical activity in reducing cancer risk, noting that cycling is both a healthy exercise and a way to promote public engagement.
The 13.5-km route commenced at Father Agnel School, spanning various landmarks before returning to the start. Miss India-World Nandini Gupta, the event's chief guest, urged participants to prioritize self-examinations. The event also stopped at Rajkumari Amrit Kaur College of Nursing, where a preventive health message was delivered to 200 nursing students.
