In a sweeping move to reform healthcare, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar proclaimed that government doctors in the state will no longer engage in private practice. This announcement came during the 'Samridhi Yatra' in West Champaran, where Kumar outlined plans to bolster hospital infrastructure and draw private investments into the sector.
Promising enhanced facilities in government hospitals, Kumar emphasized the progressive strides his government has made since its inception. Projects totaling Rs 182 crore were launched in Bettiah as part of the yatra that underscores the administration's commitment to sustained development. Health and education have been prioritized, with significant improvements noted, such as the increase from six to twelve medical colleges in the state.
Underlining the inclusive nature of his governance, Kumar highlighted various welfare measures that have benefited all demographics, particularly senior citizens, disabled individuals, and women. The state has also implemented pioneering policies like 50% reservation for women in governance roles and substantial representation in the police force.
