The Union Health Ministry has marked 219 districts for priority interventions against HIV/AIDS, with a sharp focus on Delhi and Haryana. Delhi's adult HIV prevalence stands at 0.33%, while Haryana reports 0.24%, a senior official disclosed.

The National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) recently conducted a Suraksha Sankalp Karyashala, chaired by Director General Dr. Rakesh Gupta, emphasizing district-level responses in these states. Delhi's identified districts include North, New Delhi, and Shahdara, among others, while Haryana's focus areas are Panipat, Rohtak, and Sirsa, according to officials.

Dr. Gupta reiterated India's pledge to control the HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2027, pressing for the 95:95:95 target where 95% of HIV-positive individuals are diagnosed, treated, and have suppressed viral loads. Despite facing treatment linkage issues, Delhi is pushing for advancements, while Haryana displays positive progress. Eliminating mother-to-child transmission is paramount, with calls for improved antenatal screening and access to preventive services.
