Amid escalating regional tensions, the Indian Embassy in Lebanon has issued a travel advisory urging Indians to avoid all non-essential travel to the country. Citizens currently in Lebanon have been advised to exercise caution, restrict their movements, and stay in contact with the Embassy in Beirut. The advisory was shared via social media platform X, highlighting the heightened risk in the area.

Tensions have risen following a recent rocket attack at Golan Heights, allegedly by Hezbollah, which resulted in the tragic deaths of 12 children. In a retaliatory strike, the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) announced the killing of top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in southern Lebanon. Shukr was identified as a senior strategic leader and a key figure in Hezbollah's military operations against Israel.

Since the October 7 Hamas attack, Shukr had been directing Hezbollah's strikes, including the deadly incident in Majdal Shams last weekend. According to the IDF, Shukr was responsible for advanced weaponry and orchestrating terror attacks against Israel. Both Houthis and Hamas condemned the Israeli strike, with statements affirming their solidarity with Lebanon and Hezbollah while criticizing regional Arab regimes for failing to defend Palestinian interests.
