US-India Summit Spurs Economic and Defense Collaborations

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announced that the leaders launched Mission-500, an ambitious plan to elevate two-way trade to $500 billion by 2030.

Both leaders committed to negotiating a multi-sector trade agreement by 2025, aiming to strengthen trade across both goods and services. During a press briefing, Misri highlighted the launch of the US-India Compact for the 21st Century, which will catalyze military partnerships, commerce acceleration, and technological innovation.

The summit also set the stage for a new 10-year US-India Major Defense Partnership framework from 2025 to 2035. The framework includes ongoing procurement negotiations and potential agreements on land and air defense systems. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of shared goals for enhancing bilateral relations in the coming decade.
