A high-profile delegation from the European Commission, led by its President Ursula von der Leyen, visited New Delhi for comprehensive discussions with Indian government officials, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The talks, held at Hyderabad House, signify the deepening ties between the EU and India.
Attendees included Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, underscoring the bilateral importance of the meeting. Notably, von der Leyen and her team arrived in a hydrogen fuel-cell-powered bus, a technological innovation developed in collaboration with Tata Motors and IOCL.
During her visit, von der Leyen emphasized Europe's view of India as a crucial strategic ally. The discussions highlighted areas such as the India Middle East Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), green energy, mobility, and security, reflecting shared priorities in an increasingly competitive world.
