In a significant diplomatic development, Arun Kumar Sahu, currently India's Ambassador to Bulgaria, has been given additional responsibilities as the Ambassador to the Republic of North Macedonia. The Ministry of External Affairs announced the concurrent accreditation on Monday, emphasizing India's expanding diplomatic horizon.
India and North Macedonia boast a partnership rooted in historical ties and shared democratic ideals, highlighted by the symbolic connection with Mother Teresa, born in Skopje. The bilateral relationship has evolved over the decades, particularly since India's co-sponsorship of the 1993 UNGA resolution recognizing the country as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
With cultural ties as a strong pillar, both nations are exploring collaborations in tourism and education. Indian traditions like Yoga, propelled by events such as International Yoga Day, have found appreciation among Macedonians, further tightening the cultural and people-to-people bonds between the two nations.
