During a poignant address at the 60th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Hansraj Singh of the Sambhali Trust implored the international body to hold those responsible for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack accountable. The organization highlighted the need for global action, denouncing the April 22nd incident that tragically claimed 26 lives.
Singh accused state actors of backing the perpetrators who targeted victims based on religion, calling the attack a blatant violation of the right to life. He urged the Council to act decisively, lamenting that terrorism sanctioned by state establishments erodes peace, stability, and human dignity.
While commending the UN Security Council for condemning the attack, Singh advocated for immediate actions including empowering local peace initiatives, bolstering legal policies, and facilitating urgent UN fact-finding missions, especially in the contentious region of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He urged the UNHRC to use all legal means to hold the attackers and their sponsors responsible and to halt ongoing cycles of terror.
