In a decisive move, India has reinstated its Technical Mission in Kabul to full Embassy status, effective immediately. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted this decision as part of its commitment to enhancing engagement with Afghanistan across various areas of mutual benefit.
This announcement was made by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar during his talks with Afghanistan's Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, who visited India from October 9 to 16. The Ministry's statement noted that this change would strengthen India's role in Afghanistan's comprehensive development efforts.
Jaishankar reaffirmed India's dedication to Afghanistan's sovereignty and regional stability, announcing the mission upgrade as a symbol of closer cooperation. Both sides discussed an array of mutual interests and regional developments, while condemning terrorism and promoting peace.
