During a ceremony unveiling a postage stamp commemorating the United Nations' 80th anniversary, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar urged global policymakers to bolster their faith in international cooperation. Highlighting challenges from socio-economic hurdles to supply chain dependencies, Jaishankar emphasized the need to fortify multilateralism amidst contemporary crises.

He remarked on the severe impact of international conflicts, especially on the Global South, indicating a broader distress in developmental metrics like the stalling SDG Agenda 2030. Jaishankar insisted that while flaws persist, support for the UN should not falter, particularly as the world faces mounting geopolitical and economic tensions.

Echoing his nation's enduring commitment to global stability, he underscored India's contributions to peacekeeping efforts. Amid financial and structural challenges obstructing reforms, Jaishankar maintained that commitment to multilateralism should remain unwavering, advocating for renewed global cooperation as emphasized by UN leaders. The event underscored the UN's historical role since its 1945 inception.
