In a revealing interview with ANI, ex-CIA officer John Kiriakou has claimed that the United States effectively 'purchased' former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf by channeling millions of dollars in financial aid to Pakistan. Kiriakou, who served 15 years with the CIA in various capacities, noted that such financial leveraging allowed the U.S. unprecedented freedom in its dealings with Pakistan.

Kiriakou alleged that under General Musharraf's administration, Pakistan was rife with corruption, with political elites enjoying extravagant lifestyles while ordinary citizens struggled. He particularly criticized the former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, recounting instances of her lavish living in Dubai while the populace suffered back home.

Highlighting the geopolitical complexities, Kiriakou mentioned the precarious relationship between Pakistan and its military, which prioritized conflict with India over counterterrorism efforts. He warned that political instability in Pakistan risks spiraling into violence, given the history of political turmoil and public dissatisfaction.
