Prime Minister Narendra Modi was met with a vibrant reception as he arrived in Oslo, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in over four decades. The Indian diaspora greeted him with traditional music and classical dances, showcasing the nation's rich cultural heritage.

During his visit, PM Modi shook hands with members of the Indian community, who cheered with patriotic slogans. This trip is seen as a strategic move to strengthen relations with Northern Europe. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre extended a warm welcome at Gardermoen Airport, with Modi expressing optimism about fortifying bilateral ties.

In a message shared on social media platform X, Modi expressed gratitude for the heartfelt reception and stated that he expects the visit to invigorate India-Norway relations. He is also slated to meet with King Harald V and Queen Sonja, and engage in talks with his Norwegian counterpart, highlighting the importance of the 3rd India-Nordic Summit for upcoming India-Nordic engagements.

Scheduled for May 19, this summit presents a chance for PM Modi to meet Nordic leaders and enhance trade and economic partnerships, especially following the European Free Trade Association agreement. Modi's arrival underscores India's growing influence and pursuit of economic synergy in the region.

After wrapping up a successful visit to Sweden, which he stated added momentum to bilateral relations, Modi aims to further extend India's geopolitical reach within the Nordic countries through key discussions at the summit.
