Tensions are rising sharply in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) as fierce clashes have broken out between residents and Pakistani Rangers in the Dera Eidgah area. Despite reports of overnight negotiations, witnesses and accounts from the Jammu and Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) confirm that intense gunfire was exchanged over an extended period during the morning.

Announcements via mosque loudspeakers urged locals to assemble at the Eidgah as the situation deteriorated, prompting a significant turnout. Concerns escalated when Pakistani Rangers advanced towards the university area known as Tarar Campus. Attempts by residents to block the security forces led to confrontations with shelling and live firing as the forces advanced deeper into the locality.

Sources on the ground reported a strategic confrontation at the Sudhan Education Conference office where Rangers allegedly tried to dismantle part of a road. Residents' organized resistance reportedly forced the Rangers to retreat toward Chinar Hotel Chowk. Several individuals were injured during these clashes, with emergency services reportedly active in response. Meanwhile, Amnesty International has sharply criticized Pakistan's crackdown on PoJK protests, accusing the government of excessive force and suppressing dissent before regional elections.
