JKNIA Chairman Slams Pakistan for Suppression in PoJK
Mahmood Kashmiri, chairman of JKNIA, criticized Pakistan for its suppressive actions in PoJK during a protest in the UK. He emphasized the protest movement’s peaceful nature and resilience against forceful suppression, while rejecting baseless media allegations against activists.
In a fiery address outside the Pakistani Consulate in the United Kingdom, Mahmood Kashmiri, chairman of the Jammu Kashmir National Independence Alliance (JKNIA), lashed out at the Pakistani government, accusing it of using excessive force to silence dissenting voices in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). He highlighted attempts to quash the ongoing protest movement through violence such as killings, torture, and arrests but underlined the failure of these efforts as people continue to demand justice and political freedoms vehemently.
The protest saw a significant turnout from the Kashmiri diaspora, who rallied to express support for their brethren in PoJK. Kashmiri underscored the steadfast solidarity of thousands of British Kashmiris with the oppressed population, reinforcing the call for addressing political grievances through dialogue rather than force. He criticized the government’s persistent use of force as ineffective and highlighted the enduring resolve of the population.
Further condemning certain sections of the Pakistani media, Kashmiri dismissed their attempts to tarnish the protest movement by falsely associating it with armed factions. He praised the movement's adherence to peaceful methods, backed by public support rather than violence. Citing figures like Shaukat Nawaz Mir and Umar Nazir, Kashmiri reinforced that the struggle is driven by the power of the people, which he deemed the greatest unyielding force against state oppression.
