American Karl Deisseroth and Germans Peter ‌Hegemann and Georg Nagel won the ‌2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine on Monday for developing optogenetics, a ⁠technique ​that ⁠uses light to control individual nerve cells ⁠in the brain.
