Veteran BJP leader Sushma Swaraj passes away at 67

Veteran BJP leader and former Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj died after suffering a cardiac arrest at AIIMS. The senior BJP leader was brought to AIIMS at 10:15 PM and was straight away taken to the emergency ward.

According to sources, Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari, Piyush Goyal, Prahalad Singh Patel along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh have also reached AIIMS, Delhi where Former External Affairs Minister, Sushma Swaraj, passed away.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, "Sushma Ji was a prolific orator and outstanding Parliamentarian. She was admired and revered across party lines."

Prime Minister also wrote, "A glorious chapter in Indian politics comes to an end. India grieves the demise of a remarkable leader who devoted her life to public service and bettering lives of the poor. Sushma Swaraj Ji was one of her kind, who was a source of inspiration for crores of people."

Congress party also paid condolence to the late foreign minister and wrote, "We are saddened to hear about the untimely demise of Smt Sushma Swaraj. Our condolences to her family and loved ones."

A senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party, Sushma Swaraj has served as the Minister of External Affairs of India from 26 May 2014 to 30 May 2019 and she was the second woman to hold the office, after Indira Gandhi.
