Canada calls for Nobel winner Bialiatski's release in Belarus

Canada calls for the release of Nobel Peace Prize winner and human rights activist Ales Bialiatski, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison by a Belarusian court on Friday, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said.

The sentencing of Bialiatski and members of human rights group Viasna "is another example of the Lukashenko regime's brutal repression of human rights," Joly said in a tweet.
