Finland should make it harder to obtain citizenship, government says

Finland should make it more difficult for foreigners to obtain citizenship and speed up the return of rejected asylum applicants to their country of origin, the government said on Thursday as it submitted new legislation to parliament.

Finland last year shut its border with Russia amid a growing number of arrivals from countries including Syria and Somalia, and accused Moscow of weaponising migration against the Nordic nation and the European Union, an assertion the Kremlin denies.
