The Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, addressed the Assistant Secretaries of the IAS 2022 batch at the Vice-President’s enclave today, emphasizing the need for civil servants to look beyond partisan approaches. He underscored that civil servants should not ingratiate themselves with political dispensations, but rather maintain a nationalistic and federalist outlook while upholding the rule of law.

Acknowledging the capability and competence of the Indian bureaucracy, Vice-President Dhankhar called on the officers to prioritize the nation's interests and uphold the highest ethical principles. He described the young Assistant Secretaries as inspirational and motivational forces for young minds, urging them to act as conveyors of change and vital stakeholders in quality governance and accelerated growth.

Vice-President Dhankhar highlighted the diverse representation within the Civil Service, noting its inclusion of individuals from all societal segments, particularly those from vulnerable, marginalized, and underprivileged backgrounds. Reflecting on India's economic transformation, he proudly noted that India is now a favored destination for investment, with increasing opportunities for young minds.

He also encouraged the officers to continually update their skills, reminding them of their constitutional duty to bring about change.

The event was also attended by Smt. S. Radha Chauhan, Secretary, DoPT; Shri Rajit Punhani, Secretary, Rajya Sabha; Smt. Nila Mohanan, Joint Secretary, DoPT; officers of the Vice-President Secretariat; officer trainees; and other dignitaries.
