Possible War Crimes from Deadly Raid in Nuseirat Refugee Camp

The UN human rights office has raised concerns about potential war crimes committed by both Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups following a deadly raid in the Nuseirat refugee camp that led to the deaths of 274 Palestinians and the rescue of four hostages.

UN office spokesman Jeremy Laurence voiced concern about potential infringements on rules of proportionality, distinction, and precaution by Israeli forces during the Saturday operation at the urban camp.

According to Palestinian health officials, at least 274 Palestinians, including numerous women and children, perished in the raid. Laurence also criticized Palestinian armed groups for holding hostages in crowded areas, thereby heightening the risk to both civilians and hostages amid hostilities.
