Never Again: Modi's Promise to Prevent Emergency's Return

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has vowed that the Emergency period of 1975, enforced by Congress, will never resurface in India. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia emphasized India's democratic nature, underscoring Modi's commitment to safeguarding democratic principles and ensuring the nation's progress.

In a steadfast pledge, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured that the traumatic events of the 1975 Emergency, imposed by Congress, will never be repeated in India. This commitment was echoed by Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday.

Scindia highlighted India's democratic foundation, stating loudly that every individual holds the right to voice their opinions. He noted that the Congress' imposition of Emergency struck a severe blow to democracy, an act the nation must never forget.

Addressing the media in the Parliament complex earlier, PM Modi described the Emergency as a dark period in India's parliamentary history, when constitutional safeguards were discarded, turning the nation into an open-air prison. Modi's 'Sankalp' (resolve) is to ensure such a 'black blot' never resurfaces, propelling the nation forward with a high-flying tricolor.

The Emergency, declared by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on June 25, 1975, came shortly after the Supreme Court had conditionally stayed the Allahabad High Court's verdict that nullified her election to the Lok Sabha. The court directed Gandhi to step away from parliamentary activities, marking a significant moment in India's democratic saga.
